STRING CROSSING EXERCISE

Besides i-m alternation, the main difficulty of scale playing is string crossing. On an average scale, there will be three or so notes per string, sometimes more, sometimes less. The following exercise will prepare you for any kind of string crossing.

To getr the most from these, practice them alot with preparation. That is, play "i", prepare "m" (as quickly as possible), stop. Play "m", prepare "i", stop. Etc. The quicker you can do the preparation, the faster you will be able to play a scale.

Practice this rest stroke mostly.
